SVP of Construction and Program ManagementAs SVP of Construction and Program Management at City Building Engineering Services (CBES), Bill Lawrence passionately leads multi-site programs for some of the top retailers across the nation. Alongside his dedicated team, Bill strives to deliver beyond his clients’ expectations and has been successfully launching large-scale projects such as “Buy Online, Pickup in Store” that are both cost effective and quickly scalable for over four years.
With an extensive background of almost 40 years in the construction/engineering field and a degree in Architectural Engineering Technology from Wentworth Institute of Technology, he also specializes in store development, A&E management, merchandising services and construction management.
Bill is proud to be part of the diverse City family offering a full suite of turn-key services from facilities maintenance to engineering and construction to energy management and sustainability. However, what particularly drew him to CBES was its company culture and commitment to giving back to the communities it serves as someone who shares the same values.
Personally, Bill is co-chairman (and avid golfer) for the second highest grossing golf tournament that contributes to the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Massachusetts, having raised over $7,000,000 in donations in 31 years. In addition, he enjoys outdoor activities with his family and friends and cheering on his children in multiple sports as often as possible.
North America
2016: City US is established in North America, in partnership with Southeastern Grocers (SEG), servicing over 750 supermarkets across 7 southern states.
2016: City US acquires Baltic Trail Facilities Management, servicing over 800 Ahold supermarkets across 11 north eastern states.
2018: City US establishes its partnership with leading retailer, Walmart, providing services to 460 stores in 3 southern states.
2019: City US expands its partnership with Walmart, providing services to 500 stores in 16 northeastern states.
Europe
1985: Willie and Susan Haughey establish City Refrigeration Holdings (UK) Ltd in Glasgow, UK.
1995: City UK launches long term partnership with Asda, one of the country's leading supermarket retailers, to provide total FM services across more than 600 locations in the UK.
2005: City UK establishes its construction and engineering division, providing innovative solutions across multiple sectors in the UK.
2009: City UK provides multi-site FM services throughout the country to Booker wholesalers and BP petrol forecourt operators.
2011: City UK begins the provision of dedicated FM and cleaning services across the distribution network of Asda supermarkets.
2017: City UK confirms the acquisition of Lesprit Ltd, trading as Maintenance Management Ltd (MML) and Atrium Maintenance France (AMF) based in Milton Keynes (UK) and Lille (France) respectively.
2019: City UK signs deal with Marks & Spencer servicing 1000 sites.
Australia
2009: City Australia launches in Melbourne, in partnership with Coles, servicing over 700 supermarkets across the country.
2015: City Australia expands its partnership with Coles, servicing all Liquorand and Express stores across the country.
2015: City Australia establishes its partnership with Target, servicing over 300 stores across the country.
2016: City Australia expands its partnership with Coles, servicing all its regional Distribution Centres across the country.
2016: City Australia signs a new 10-year partnership deal with Coles. This deal represents one of the largest GNFR contracts signed by Coles.
2017: City Australia renews its partnership with Target for another 10 years.
2018: City Australia commences cleaning self-delivery to Coles Distribution Centres throughout the country.
2019: City Australia signs its first healthcare partnership with the Australian Red Cross Lifeblood.
2019: City Australia establishes its partnership with mycar, servicing 260 sites.
Asia
2015: City Asia launches in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in partnership with Dairy Farm, servicing over 205 supermarkets across the region.
2017: City Asia commences service delivery to 450 Guardian health and beauty sites in Malaysia.
2018: City Asia expands its partnership with Dairy Farm, servicing 630 sites in Singapore.
2019: City Asia expands its partnership with Dairy Farm, servicing over 1800 sites in Hong Kong.
